“I find the four cornerstones of Velocity Softball, CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, INTENSITY, and SPORTSMANSHIP to be of the utmost importance to me. I have built my coaching approach around these since I first started, and I have been at it a while. My buddy Joe Cash and I started the very first travel softball teams of Flagler County, the Flagler Fury, in 1998. We traveled for ten seasons, playing approximately 150 games a year all over central Florida. I then took over the head coaching position at Flagler Palm Coast High School where I taught. I coached at FPC for a total of 16 years, where we won multiple District titles and appeared in multiple Regional Finals games.
My goal has always been to develop a true love for the game in my players, and have them play hard but fair. Once they have a real love of the game and can perform the skills at a high level, amazing things can happen. I am a coach that really believes that games are won or lost on how well your players perform the fine details of the sport. I love to practice and to develop skills in young players. My motto is "don't practice until you get it right, practice until you can't get it wrong". I organize a lot of circuit training in practice where players are rarely idle. You will see all my players, during a normal practice, get in about 250 swings each day. I am also a true believer that along the journey of becoming a good softball player, the things you learn about the game become extremely valuable things that you will learn about life and that those life lessons will make you a better person.”
